MAN'S COMPLETENESS

Contrary to popular belief, true completeness lies not in personal companionship, health, satisfying employment, or other material possessions or activities, desirable though these may be, but in the recognition and demonstration of man's oneness with or reflection of God. Man's inseparability from God is inviolable. It is established by God and continues uninterrupted and unchanged by human circumstances.

In Christ Jesus' parable of the prodigal son, the father assures the elder brother (Luke 15:31), "Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine." Thus the Master indicates man's eternal dwelling place in the Father's kingdom and Love's natural provision for its idea.

Sometimes, like the prodigal, one may wander for a time in a far country of material pleasures and pains, but even then he is separated from the Father only in belief. When he realizes that material pursuits alone can afford no real happiness, health, or security and turns humbly to God in prayerful recognition of his unity with Him, he will be aware of the same compassion and care that the prodigal experienced.
