Through the years I have been so grateful for the many wonderful testimonies of healing recorded in The Christian Science Journal, Christian Science Sentinel, and The Herald of Christian Science, in its various editions, that I prayerfully rejoice in the acknowledgment others have given of Christian Science. My father, who had lost all power of speech, was healed through this Science. Although he did not take up its study, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy had a place on our bookshelves, and while I was in my teens I began to read it.

In this volume I found for the first time a satisfying answer to the question, "What is God?" Our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, writes (ibid., p. 465), "God is incorporeal, divine, supreme, infinite Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love." That statement caused me to study and think.

When I left home to further my education, and also later in the business world, I found great protection in the daily study and demonstration of Christian Science. While working long, strenuous hours in a department store, I contracted a severe cold. I telephoned to a Christian Science practitioner. My voice was so hoarse I could scarcely speak clearly. She assured me that I could go back to my duties and that she would take up the work immediately. As I left the telephone booth my voice was clear and strong. The cold was gone, and I was entirely free. The healing was instantaneous.
