I am increasingly and unceasingly grateful for Mary Baker Eddy's revelation of Truth and for her explanation of how to rely upon and apply God's laws in our daily living. I wish to share with others my first experience in turning to God alone for help. I was at that time suffering from asthma and from a heart condition, and I overheard the doctor saying to my young son: "Your mother cannot go through another night in her present condition. If she is not better, telephone me tonight, and I'll return and administer morphine."

As soon as the doctor was out of the house, I asked that the Christian Scientist who lived next door be told that I wanted to see her. I soon discovered that my neighbor was a practitioner. She seated herself near me, but spoke no word. Nor did I, since I was in no condition to speak. For several hours she sat silently beside me, communing with God. I understand now that she was denying the mortal picture and claiming the immortal spiritual and perfect state of man's being.
