THE SUSTAINING POWER OF OUR BEING

Inseparable from each spiritual idea is the eternal and irrepressible power of God sustaining and maintaining that idea. This power is not limited, nor does it ever diminish or ebb. It is constant, infinite, and perpetual.

Each individual whom we envision as a mortal is in reality a spiritual idea of God. No matter how restricted or limited that one may appear to be to the senses, in his true immortal state the unlimited power of God sustains him. Through the prayer of understanding, we can demonstrate infinite power as present in our daily affairs and controlling them.

Christian Science defines this supreme and universal power as good only and shows it can be utilized in working out human problems. The fact of the presence of God's power is stated in Revelation, in which John states that he heard a voice saying (19:6), "Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth." God, who reigns supreme, is ever present. He is the Life of each spiritual idea. God, being the source of all power and the source of all ideas, is consequently the power of each idea.
