One of my first healings in Christian Science...

One of my first healings in Christian Science for which I shall always be grateful was the overcoming of the effects of an accident. I had been given permission to ride a horse early one morning. It was a former race horse, and I did not know it.

We came to a park where there was a track for training race horses. There the horse ran away with me, but I held on and was able to guide it into a bridle path. Unfortunately a stirrup broke, and I fell from the horse. At first I was stunned, but became fully conscious again when passers-by and a policeman tried to help me. I declared that I was all right and desired to go home. However, I was not allowed to do so, but was taken instead to an emergency hospital.

While I was waiting for the doctor to examine me, my body seemed to become more and more painful; but I clung to "the scientific statement of being," given on page 468 of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. This statement includes these words: "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." I did not let any other thoughts occupy my consciousness.
