Financial Needs Met

Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, writes in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 232), "The right way wins the right of way, even the way of Truth and Love whereby all our debts are paid, mankind blessed, and God glorified." The following reports from branches of The Mother Church show that members are consistently proving this statement as they meet the financial as well as other needs of their churches.

A branch church in California writes of the improvement in its financial condition:

"An extensive renovating program has been carried on for the past three years. With the discarding of outworn materials has come also the discarding of outmoded procedures in our church government, which may be attributed to the procedures in our church government, which may be attributed to the prayerful work done during this period. It was recommended that the members study the definition of 'Church' on page 583 of 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures' by Mrs. Eddy, and they unanimously accepted this assignment. Subsequently, the executive board decided to abolish the system of dues or pledges, and each member thereafter has contributed according to his individual demonstration of supply. At the end of the year we were financially far in advance of previous years and have proved that it is always the best plan to 'give of your heart's rich overflow' (Christian Science Hymnal, Hymn No. 139)."
