SING, YE RANSOMED

A Stirring verse in Isaiah proclaims (35:10), "The ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away."

Part of the definition of the verb "ransom" is "to redeem from captivity" and "to deliver, as from sin." The "ransomed of the Lord," or the redeemed, then, are those whom God has healed of sin and disease. The Bible counsels (Ps. 107:2), "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy."

Applying the meanings of "ransom" just given, one sees that this verse is direct Biblical authority for the provision for testimonies of healing in the Christian Science periodicals and at the Wednesday testimony meeting in Churches of Christ, Scientist. Also it is a command to each Christian Scientist to make use of the opportunities which these mediums afford.
