GOODNESS LEADS ONWARD

I used to call the little things I did—
Like unseen favors, simple courtesies,
The drying of an eye,
Exchange of jolly wit for plaintive sigh—
Trivialities,
A sort of marking time, till grand realities
Might start my upward, heavenward, climb.

Now patience, prized ingredient of Love,
Has proved to be a most important thing.
Mind teaches us its timeless healing power.
Strength from above exalts each passing hour.
No thing is trivial in the realm of God, eternal Mind.
Goodness leads onward by small step or stride.
No marking time where grace and truth abide.
