TRUE DISCIPLINE OF CHILDREN
Parents and educators recognize the wisdom found in Proverbs (22:6), "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." The children taught in the Christian Science Sunday School are adults of tomorrow who will help to carry on the Christian Science movement. Does it not behoove all who deal with these children to handle them in as enlightened ways as can possibly be found in the study of Christian Science?
Mary Baker Eddy tells us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 106), "Man is properly self-governed only when he is guided rightly and governed by his Maker, divine Truth and Love." To show each child how he may reach as soon as possible this stage of self-government spoken of by our Leader should be the goal of every Christian Scientist who has the responsibility of rearing or teaching children.
In the disciplining of children, parents and teachers hope that a child will learn to turn from the wrong and love the right. The discipline of our children should always be patterned after that of the divine Parent, our Father-Mother God, of whom the poet wrote (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 124),
