Matthew 26:39

He went a little further—always he went
Further—outdistancing in more than space—
Further in meekness, further in consent
To do the Father's will, further in grace.

He went a little further. Still he goes
Beyond the bounds that lesser men have made,
Outstripping in his love sinners and foes,
And overtaking all that are afraid.

Further he goes, yes, seventy times seven
Forgiving, healing, taking in his stride
The mighty compass of that inner heaven—
Master and Saviour, forerunner and guide.
