RADIO PROGRAM No.252 - Freeing Homes from Alcoholism

Speaker: Behind the tragedy of many a broken home lies the problem of drinking. And thousands of men and women are seeking deliverance from this bondage. We're going to talk about a way to find such freedom through an understanding of the power of God. Our guests today will tell you in their own words how their home was restored. I'd like to introduce Mr. and Mrs. James F. Lawrence, of Houston, Texas. Mr. Lawrence, won't you tell us first how the trouble with drinking began?

Mr. Lawrence: As a boy, I was always big for my age, and when I went into a saloon no one ever asked how old I was. So I began to drink. Not much at first, but gradually I got to be a chronic drinker of hard liquor. Occasionally, in those earlier years, I would quit drinking for a while only to start all over again.

As time went on I tried all sorts of advertised cures, but they didn't help. They just left me tortured in body and soul and not a bit better. The fear of the eventual outcome was overwhelming. I prayed time and again that I could stop drinking.
