He brought me up also out of...

"He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings" (Ps. 40:2). These were the words which arrested my attention at my first visit to a Wednesday testimony meeting in a Church of Christ, Scientist, to which I had been taken by a dear friend. On the way home I pondered the above words and wondered if Christian Science were the rock of Truth, for which I longed. During the past thirty years it has indeed proved to be so.

Shortly before this introduction to Christian Science, I had prayed most earnestly to God, asking Him to show me the right way to live. At that time I was going to a hospital twice a week for treatment, and my two small children were almost always ill. This, I felt, could not be the will of a loving God.

After the testimony meeting, I borrowed the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. When I read the chapter on Prayer, I knew I had found that for which I had yearned since childhood. In a short while I was able to purchase the textbook, and then with the Bible and the Christian Science Quarterly I began to study the weekly Lesson-Sermon. What a new view of God, man, and life it gave to me! For the light which Christian Science has thrown upon the Bible, I shall never cease to be grateful.
