When Christian Science first...

When Christian Science first came to me, I was in physical distress, confused, and heavy of heart. Now I can truly testify to the saving and healing power of this religion, for it has healed me of physical and mental irregularities. During the past years, as a student of Christian Science, I have also been freed from various limitations, social drinking, the smoking habit of many year's standing, and false traits of character, such as selfishness and criticism.

I have been helped along this way to freedom by faithful, dedicated Christian Science practitioners and many unselfed, loving friends. My way has not been smooth and easy, but the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy have shielded me from materialism and aggressive mental suggestion.

I humbly give thanks to God for all of my blessings, and I gratefully acknowledge the higher point of vision from which the permanent facts of Spirit appear. My blessings have not come as self-prescribed or humanly designed. As the Bible says (Phil. 2:13), "It is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure."
