"TRAIN UP A CHILD IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO"
"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." This statement from the book of Proverbs (22:6) is one that brings comfort to parents seeking to assist their children to find and keep the way of Christian living.
Seeking wisdom's guidance as to how her children could best be encouraged to keep in the way, one mother decided that the consistent effort to increase one's understanding of God was essential. An inevitable accompaniment of this understanding would be an increasingly clear concept of one's spiritual individuality as God's child, or witness, she reasoned.
The question was this: What human footsteps would effectively promote this progressive understanding in the consciousness of each member of the family? Prayerful thought resulted in the establishment of two daily practices in the home.
