I wish to express my gratitude for...

I wish to express my gratitude for all the good that has come into my life through the study of Christian Science.

One night during my childhood, when returning to my home from a vist across town, I stopped at a street intersection to look at the beautiful stars. It was in the year of Halley's Comet, and I had never beheld a more magnificent and inspiring view. After standing there for some time enthralled by the scene, I looked up and down the street, expecting to see others enjoying the sight. But all the houses were dark. Apparently everyone else was asleep.

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy says (p. 95), "Lulled by stupefying illusions, the world is asleep in the cradle of infancy, dreaming away the hours." When I caught my first glimpse of Christian Science, it was like the night when I was a child and gazed into the sky and beheld the glorious view of the comet and stars. I was awakened from the stupefying illusions of the material senses.
