San Clemente, California (First Church).

In the year 1928 the inception of First Church of Christ, Scientist, San Clemente, began by a few students of Christian Science gathering in homes for reading of the Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly.

In 1930 they complied with the requirements of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, and were recognized as a society, holding regular church services in a rented building. This society continued holding services until 1938 when they disbanded.

In 1949 the society reorganized and held public meetings in rented buildings until March, 1953, when the present edifice was built with the [financial] assistance of the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy and of the Selina C. Cornish Fund.

In May, 1953, this society became a church, First Church of Christ, Scientist, San Clemente, California. ...

[It] will be dedicated on October 27, 1957. Dedication services will be held at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. All are cordially invited to attend.
