The blessings which have come...
The blessings which have come to me through the study of Christian Science are so numerous I cannot begin to count them.
I should like to tell of the healing of a painful back condition of over ten years' standing. I had Christian Science treatment several times and tried to help myself, but the condition did not improve. Finally my husband, who is not a Christian Scientist, insisted on my having an X ray of my back and a medical examination. The X-ray report showed a form of arthritis of the spine, for which the doctor said there was no cure. Again I called for Christian Science help.
This time the treatment was given by a practitioner eleven thousand miles away, since there were no practitioners in the country where I was then living. I could feel the inspiration and spiritual uplift from the practitioner's treatments, but the condition of the back remained the same. After about three months the thought came to me that since I felt so divinely inspired and enlightened by the wonderful work of the practitioner, I could carry on with treatment for myself. I knew that every Christian Science treatment I had ever been given continued to bless me in the present time, and I began by expressing sincere gratitude to God for His omnipresence.
Each time the pain appeared I thanked God for filling all space and for helping me to know that right where pain was calling for attention the presence of good was being manifested in peace, comfort, health, and happiness. This happened many times a day and during the night. The pain ceased to be my master and acted only as a reminder that God fills all space and that there is no place for anything unlike God, good.
After working this way for a few weeks, one day I was overwhelmed with joy to find myself completely free. All stiffness and pain had disappeared, and I was entirely normal and at peace. I did not mention this healing to anybody, for I was so uplifted, so high up on the mountain of gratitude and joy, that I did not want to be brought down. But after a few days I felt I had to share the good news with my husband. He too expressed deep gratitude for the healing. This healing occurred about four years ago and has been permanent. I am profoundly grateful for the unlimited freedom of action and for the comfort I am experiencing.
I give thanks to God for Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and for our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who has enlightened the Scriptures for us. Membership in The Mother Church has enriched and blessed me tremendously, enabling me to share my experiences with others and affording me the opportunity for spiritual growth. Class instruction was to me a taste of heaven, and after more than twelve years I have not lost any of the inspiration which it gave me. Finally, I am ever so grateful to the practitioners who have been of such help to me.—(Mrs.) Blanche Myers, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
