In 1955, just ten days before the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church in Boston, Massachusetts, in June, I had a hard fall on a concrete sidewalk. I called a friend, who is a Christian Science practitioner, for treatment, and through her help I had a very comfortable night.

X rays had to be taken for insurance purposes; so the next day I drove my car to a hospital. The surgeon who examined the X rays knew that I was a Christian Scientist, and when he saw the fractured bones, he said, "I should put you in a cast and keep you there, but I would never try to do that to you." He asked me to be fitted with a brace, but I told him I would not need one.

The first argument that error presented was, "You cannot go to Boston as you had planned to do." I immediately put this down with the declaration that I was not a physical body going on a trip, but I was in reality an idea of God. I drove to Boston, attended the Annual Meeting, and drove home again.
