HOW CHRISTIAN SCIENCE HEALS May 24, 1958 Issue

RADIO PROGRAM No. 244 - Our Unbroken Relationship with God

Speaker: The Bible records many instances of the complete healing of the human body through the power of God alone. Is such a power available to mankind today? Let me introduce to you Mrs. Edith N. Evans, of Eugene, Oregon. Through prayer alone she was restored to normalcy after she sustained severe injuries due to an accident. Tell us your experience, please, Mrs. Evans.

Mrs. Evans: This happened about seven years ago. The car in which I was riding was hit by a truck, and I was thrown headlong to the pavement. I was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition. I was able to ask right away that a Christian Science practitioner be called. The doctors respected my wishes, and I was given no medical treatment at any time while I was there.

At first, it was thought impossible that I could live, because of the extent of my injuries, which included a fractured pelvis, broken ribs, a broken anklebone, and a shattered cheekbone. My face was badly disfigured. The thought was expressed that I would never hear again. But in spite of all this, I felt a clear, constant sense of God's ever-presence. Christ Jesus' words, "I and my Father are one," kept coming to me, and I was sure of man's oneness, or unity, with God, divine Life.
