THE AVAILABILITY OF DIVINE SCIENCE

Nothing is of any value unless it is available. This statement is self-evident. In terms of material wealth or utility, the frozen assets of business, the minerals buried in the mountain, the rain clouds overhead, even the embryonic fruit in the orchard, have no value until they become available.

Christian Scientists understand gratefully that the all-encompassing divine Mind, God, is available to every individual right now. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, writes (pp. 12, 13): "In divine Science, where prayers are mental, all may avail themselves of God as 'a very present help in trouble.' Love is impartial and universal in its adaptation and bestowals."

Pleading with God, asking Him for something which He has not already provided, not only assumes that something is incomplete or needs changing, but it also belittles the infinity of our creator and implies that time must be allowed in which to make improvements.
