UNDISTURBED

One of the Christian Scientist's important duties and privileges in the world today is to remain calm and undisturbed in the presence of the confusing testimony of the material senses. The Psalmist pointed the way to the cultivation of peace and poise in the midst of wars, rumors of wars, and other disturbing conditions. He declared that God is our refuge, even though the whole earth is shaken by calamity. He recorded God as saying (Ps. 46: 10), "Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth."

To establish in himself a true sense of quietness and poise, of courage and assurance, amid the storms of sense, the individual needs to know God aright and live according to His law as revealed in Christian Science. The Psalmist said (Ps. 119:165), "Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them."

Nothing can ever offend or disturb the individual who fixes his heart on God, the omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient Father and Mother of all, and who acts according to His law.
