MAKING RIGHT DECISIONS

In this modern age, we all have to face the alternatives presented to the Israelites by Moses (Deut. 30:19): "I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing." Should not we all make the decision requested by Moses, "Therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live"?

Daily, hourly, maybe minute by minute, the choice must be made, perhaps not actually between life and death but between the things that bless and the things that curse —good and evil, love and hate, health and disease. Every individual has the alternatives set before him, and the decision ultimately is his and his alone.

Factors which may influence the decision, directly or indirectly, include friends, books, world opinion, and one's own tastes and inclinations. Indeed, at times when one endeavors to make a right decision, so many suggestions clamor for admission to consciousness that one feels compelled to ask: "Is there some substantial, consistent, accurate standard or measuring rod to help in deciding what course to take?"
