"Pilgrim on earth, thy home is...
"Pilgrim on earth, thy home is heaven; stranger, thou art the guest of God." These words of Mrs. Eddy's on page 254 of Science and Health have been made practical in my experience in helping me to find suitable places to live in seven different states at various times when housing was difficult to find.
Christ Jesus said (John 14:2): "In my Father's house are many mansions....I go to prepare a place for you." This gave me courage to move whenever I needed to do so, and always my reliance on divine Love to supply the human need was adequately rewarded.
During the years that I have been soloist in a Church of Christ, Scientist, there have been a few times when I could barely speak before the time to sing. But with the help of a practitioner or sometimes with my own reliance on the truth taught in Christian Science, my voice came, and the message was clearly heard. It was not uncommon after such an experience to hear a report that I had never sung better, which proves that all things are possible with God, as both the Bible and Mrs. Eddy teach.
About fifteen years ago a sore place on my body began to discharge. My husband read to me from Science and Health (p. 353): "Perfection underlies reality. Without perfection, nothing is wholly real. All things will continue to disappear, until perfection appears and reality is reached."
I wrote a letter to my mother in a distant state, asking her to help me in Christian Science. In her reply she asked me to study the following passage (ibid., p. 14): "Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,—neither in or of matter, —and the body will then utter no complaints. If suffering from a belief in sickness, you will find yourself suddenly well." A few days later mental surgery occurred, and the healing took place.
After my husband and I had been married for ten years, our daughter was born. The birth was natural and harmonious. I am grateful to the Christian Science nurse who was present and to the practitioner, living almost two thousand miles away, who helped me.
The doctor in attendance sat quietly by, listening to the weekly Lesson-Sermon being read from the Christian Science Quarterly. Also my husband was a help during this time. The child is now a healthy little girl who has never missed being in her class in a Christian Science Sunday School.
For these proofs of God's care and for many others too numerous to mention in this testimony, I am most grateful. I feel boundless gratitude for my Sunday School training, for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, and for class instruction.—(Mrs.) Judith Kidd Bennett, San Diego, California.
