Christian Science has brought to me so many blessings that I feel I should express my great gratitude to God by submitting this testimony.

Prior to the sudden passing of my ten-year-old daughter, I had been a very devoted member of an orthodox church for thirty years. Due to shock and grief, I suffered a nervous breakdown and found no comfort in the teachings of my church. A condition of nervous prostration followed, and it lasted several years.

During this very discouraging time, I turned to God and studied the Bible, reading it through twice. The truths from the Bible sustained me, but the physical condition resisted all therapy, treatments, and medicine.

I had always felt that healing was a part of true Christianity, but I was given no definite answers to my questions on this subject. Although I continued to read and study many religious books, I found no enlightenment in my search for truth.

About this time I happened to mention to a Christian Scientist that I was greatly interested in spiritual healing. A few days later she brought me a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. She stated that I might find an answer to my questions about healing if I would read this book. I started to read it that evening and continued daily until I had read it through.

During this time I was very much exhausted most of the time and manifested great fear of passing on. One day I read these words in the Bible, spoken by Jesus (John 5:24): "He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."

This great truth suddenly broke upon my consciousness: We can pass from the belief of death and live now in the consciousness of the eternality of Life.

With this revelation, I stopped and asked myself, "Why did this truth suddenly seem so real and clear?"

Then the thought came to me, "You read that book." With this thought came the realization that I had been healed of my great fear just by reading the textbook.

This was the beginning of my experience in Christian Science. With a practitioner's loving help, I gradually regained strength and poise to participate again in the normal activities of daily life. With the daily study of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly came the desire for church membership. I now have the joy of membership in The Mother Church and the privilege of taking part in the activities of a branch church, including teaching in the Sunday School.

I am grateful for my many healings, for class instruction, and for all the periodicals. Most of all I am deeply grateful to Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and to Mrs. Eddy, our beloved Leader, whose consecrated life and work have given us this healing truth that is doing so much for the world.—(Mrs.) Eveline E.
