SICKNESS IS AN OUTLAW

An "outlaw" has been defined as "a lawless person, or a fugitive from the law; a person roving and committing acts of violence," and also as" a person excluded from the benefit of the law, or deprived of its protection."

Job was troubled by such an outlaw. When the Lord, described as accosting Satan, asked (2:2), "From whence comest thou?" Satan replied, "From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it." Thereafter Satan, the belief of roving evil, "smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown."

Job, at this point in his experience, was not prepared to defend himself against this attack, which was so contrary to the perfect law of God, good. It was not until he learned more of the nature of God and of man's spiritual relationship to Him that he was able to arrest the outlaw and regain his health.
