"BIGGER THAN THE SHADOW"

A shadow seems to have come over humanity, a menace which represents the perverse and unreasoning thinking of the carnal mind. Destructive force would threaten to overcome constructive peace, the Christliness which has been enlightening the thought of men in some measure since Christ Jesus demonstrated spiritual reality for a benighted world.

Centuries ago the Master taught that the Light which is God can never be obliterated by darkness. His disciple John wrote (I John 1:5), "God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." John also said (John 1:5), "The light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."

Mary Baker Eddy discerned the spiritual meaning of Jesus' teachings, and her writings encourage us to trust in the ability of God to assert His light and to maintain it. She says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 134), "He who dwelleth in eternal light is bigger than the shadow, and will guard and guide His own."
