MAKING THE SEPARATION
It is fitting that the first chapter in the Bible should describe the perfect, spiritual creation of God, Spirit. This perfect unfoldment of Mind, God, is complete, wholly good.
According to human belief, every truth has a suppositional opposite. Ignorance may claim this opposite to be a fact, but it is a lie or false belief; and a statement of ignorance does not make a lie true or real. Christian Science furnishes enlightenment regarding man's perfection as God's child and shows how to replace mistaken concepts with the truth.
The basic error which deceives and persecutes mortals is the supposition that man is a material being, separated from God, made of a so-called substance called matter, the opposite of Spirit. Error also declares that man has five material senses which testify to both good and evil, thus giving him pleasure or pain. No record of error's claim can be found in the first chapter of Genesis, where it is stated (verse 27), "God created man in his own image."
