"BORN OF GOD"

Man , made in the image of God, is never embodied in matter. To emphasize this teaching, Mary Baker Eddy has made the provision in the Manual of The Mother Church (p. 121) that just before the benediction in every Sunday service in a Church of Christ, Scientist, the First Reader reads I John 3:1—3. Included in this passage are the words, "Beloved, now are we the sons of God."

These few words, universally understood, can resolve all of humanity's problems, for they bring to light the fact that man is the offspring of God, Spirit. Every inharmony experienced by mankind can be traced to a basic belief in a material selfhood. Expel this untrue sense of selfhood, and sickness, accidents, unhappiness, lack, even death, have nothing on which to fasten or any place to be.

God never releases His children to any seeming power outside of Himself, for He is All and must of necessity be expressed throughout all space eternally. Our task is to demonstrate this fact in the face of every seeming discord in ourselves and in our families. Indeed, we must see everyone in the light of Truth and attach no nature to man except that which the son of God expresses.
