WE CAN HEAL OURSELVES AND OTHERS
Christ Jesus, the beloved Way-shower and Teacher, was the most successful healer the world has ever known. He healed all manner of sickness and disease among the people, but he never resorted to material medicines or methods for healing. His tender and heartening promises have encouraged countless people. He said (John 14:12), "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father."
Jesus could heal because he truly knew how to pray, and his prayers were based upon his full understanding of the allness of God, good, and of the unreality and impotence of all that is unlike good. Jesus taught men to approach God, to know Him as the all-loving Father, and to recognize and claim man's spiritual unity with God.
Christian Science teaches us to pray as Jesus did; therefore when we are faced with a suggestion of sin, disease, or inharmony of any kind, we must turn instantly to God and acknowledge the perfection of all true being. We do not begin with imperfection in order to realize perfection; we must know what perfection is, in other words, what reality is, and then the nothingness of imperfection is apparent. When the truth is established in thought, error is dispelled.
