I did not come to Christian Science seeking physical healing, but searching for a positive answer as to what God really is. I have found that answer and physical healings as well.

One of my first healings was of what materia medica would probably have called double pneumonia. I had had a very busy day at the office and remained until closing time, but by then I was manifesting such a high fever that I did not feel it wise to go home alone. I telephoned a practitioner for help and then called a taxicab. It was more than an hour before I was able to get one, however. The building had been locked up, and I had to wait in the sleet all that time. When I reached home I was unable to walk alone and had to be helped upstairs by the driver and my landlady.

Each attack of coughing was so severe that my landlady was greatly alarmed. She came to the bed and stood for about five minutes saying over and over, "If you do not call a doctor, you will not be here thirty minutes longer." I felt I must be alone to think clearly; so with her help I walked down the hall and telephoned the practitioner who was helping me. He assured me that all would be well.
