My heart overflows with humble gratitude to God for our dear Master, Christ Jesus, and for our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, as well as for the many blessings I have received through the regenerating ministry of Christian Science. My childhood was one of continuous ill-health. I felt inferior to others, limited in my activities, and unhappy. Although I became an active member of an orthodox church and even taught a class in its Sunday School, my prayers for health and happiness were not answered.

After I had suffered several years from heart trouble a friend told me of Christian Science, and through its teachings I was healed. Later, while suffering from pneumonia, I was healed by reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. One of the statements that most helped me at that time was this one (p. 428): "The great spiritual fact must be brought out that man is, not shall be, perfect and immortal."

A testing time came when it was recommended that I have an immediate surgical operation for a tumor and severe hemorrhages. Being a consecrated student of Christian Science, I refused the operation and took a firm stand to rely on divine Mind for healing. While the complete healing was not immediate, I learned many valuable lessons. Resentment was seen as a lying belief, and through my correction of this belief by spiritualization of my thinking, I gained my healing. It is wonderful to realize that there is nothing in the man of Spirit's creating to fear, criticize, or resent.
