UTILIZING ABSOLUTE TRUTH

The absoluteness of Christian Science does not make it abstract or theoretical. Mary Baker Eddy shows the inseparability of her discovery of absolute Truth and its practical application when she writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 126), "I have set forth Christian Science and its application to the treatment of disease just as I have discovered them." She continues. "I have demonstrated through Mind the effects of Truth on the health, longevity, and morals of men."

Christ Jesus' teachings included the facts of perfect God and perfect man. But the Master demanded proofs of that perfection in deeds of regeneration and healing. He said to his disciples as they were about to go out on their first healing mission (Matt. 10:8), "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give." And he repeated the same kind of command at the end of his ministry when he was about to leave the world. He was entrusting to his followers not only the truths of God's fatherhood and man's perfect sonship with Him, but the continuation of the works which made those truths effective in the redemption of mankind from mortality.

An impressive feature of the Master's contribution to the true method of worship which he gave the world was his uncovering of the Pharisees' sin of hiding behind ritual in their effort to shunt the moral demands of the Mosaic law.
