Signs of the Times
Archdeacon T. C Hammond in the Sydney Morning Herald New South Wales, Australia
There is a widespread notion that what men call the Gospel is a set of religious opinions which, perhaps, we cannot avoid holding, but which have no bearing whatever on everyday life.
We are told, "You cannot mix religion with business or politics." This displays itself in indifference to spiritual things, and many ordinary men succeed very well in the design to let religion severely alone. But we are brought up with a swift check. The Bible idea of the Gospel is that it brings forth fruit.
