FULFILLMENT, THE DEMAND OF THE HOUR

What is the demand of the hour? Is it not so to live and demonstrate Christian Science that the world may see the fulfillment of divine Love in our lives and awaken to its glorious message (I John 3: 2), "Now are we the sons of God"? In words of deep import, Mary Baker Eddy tells us in "Christian Science versus Pantheism" (pp. 11, 12): "The grand realism that man is the true image of God, not fallen or inverted, is demonstrated by Christian Science. And because Christ's dear demand, 'Be ye therefore perfect.' is valid, it will be found possible to fulfil it."

Christian Scientists are learning to prove that God is Life, that Life is Love, and that perfection is a present reality, not a fact for future attainment. They are proving that freedom from sin and sickness is possible today. To put off harmony, happiness, and serene well-being as something to be experienced only in the future is never to experience fulfillment. The present realization and utilization of good is sufficient to meet the demands of the hour.

We can never solve a problem by dwelling on it and putting its solution off until tomorrow. Our Master, Christ Jesus, called attention to the fact that good is already here when he said (John 4:35), "Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest."
