In the Christian Science textbook...

In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, writes (p. 66), "Each successive stage of experience unfolds new views of divine goodness and love." For over forty years, since my healing of chronic appendicitis in 1915, I have found this statement true.

When a decision concerning right companionship had to be made, great help was found in our Leader's statement in the chapter on Marriage in the textbook (p. 60), "Kindred tastes, motives, and aspirations are necessary to the formation of a happy and permanent companionship." The unfoldment came quickly, and I was married to a consecrated Christian Scientist.

I am deeply grateful for many healings of dispositional traits which caused illness and unhappiness. One healing was that of overcoming an aversion toward housekeeping. I was awakened to the necessity of changing my concept of activity. Instead of considering my work in the home mere laborious housekeeping, I thought of the privilege of serving God in the art of homemaking. Then the very same duties became glorious and joyous privileges. Fatigue and discomfort were healed, and I lost all sense of displeasure in household tasks.
