I have many times been deeply grateful to Mary Baker Eddy for her wisdom in providing for the inclusion of testimonies of healing in the Christian Science periodicals. One day while reading a particularly helpful testimony I realized I had deprived myself of the joy of sharing in this way my own experience of healing and my gratitude.

I began the study of Christian Science to learn of its teachings rather than to get a healing. I had good health, education, and a pleasant family and social life. But I became interested in some new friends who had a great sense of freedom and joy. When I learned that they were students of Christian Science and that their religion gave them a satisfactory understanding of God which based their whole living and thinking, I asked to be introduced to these teachings.

Although I had been brought up in a fine Protestant church and had studied many philosophic and religions, my concept of God was confused and troubled. Now I know that the need for spiritualization of thought is the great need of mankind and that Christian Science meets this need.
