Signs of the Times
From an editorial in the Marion Chronicle-Tribune, Indiana
The quest for happiness is the most potent force in the world. Unfortunately, a great many people ... pursue the question along lines that bring unhappiness. They are misled by selfish desires. The gratification of self never leads to happiness. It remained for the founder of Christianity to enunciate the great truth, and to exemplify it in his life, that service, a spirit of altruism, not taking thought for oneself but taking thought for others, is the open door to happiness.
It is remembering that, in the spirit of the Master, we are here, not "to be ministered unto, but to minister," that to ourselves, as well as to others, there opens the door to enduring happiness.
