My acknowledgment of the healing...

My acknowledgment of the healing power of Christian Science is long overdue. Born with a bad heart and extremely frail, I was not expected to grow to womanhood. Also I was troubled by deafness, was very much emaciated, and was quite unhappy. In my early twenties I had been under medical care constantly for eight years. Finally the doctors stated that I had only three more days to live.

At this time a dear friend came to see me and brought me a German translation of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, as I understood only a few words of English at that time. I was especially impressed with the opening statement in the Preface (p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." This promise was fulfilled in my case. I began to take nourishment and to gain weight and strength. In addition, my hearing became normal. I had no Christian Science treatment at that time, but I dwelt incessantly on the chapter on Prayer and drank in its wonderful truths. I begged to be taken to the church services, and although I had to be carried at first, I rejoiced to hear the Word of God read. My complete healing was very rapid.

I quickly learned the English language, and after passing the necessary tests, I attended a university. Later I maintained a rest home for students of Christian Science where I had the opportunity to live my gratitude and love for Christian Science and for our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
