NEVER TOO LATE

"Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God" (Isa. 40:1). Christian Science assures us that it is never too late to experience healing, regeneration, restoration, and harmonious relationships. The study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy brings the spiritual understanding which solves every problem. It reveals perfect God and perfect man. In this textbook we read (p. 207): "There is but one primal cause. Therefore there can be no effect from any other cause, and there can be no reality in aught which does not proceed from this great and only cause."

The practicality of this teaching was demonstrated in the experience of a student of Christian Science. An unwise purchase had been made, and there was a possibility that the mistake might result in loss and other unpleasant circumstances. "Too late" was the argument of material sense. For a solution of the problem, the student saw that she had to turn away from the material evidence of a mistake and look to God, divine Mind, where no mistake could occur. "Perfection underlies reality," we are told on page 353 of Science and Health.

The student remembered hearing a Christian Scientist tell of having a dream one night in which an animal with a hungry look in its eye kept coming closer and closer. When he felt the animal's hot breath on his cheek, he woke up. Then the Scientist asked himself: "What if in the dream the animal had devoured me? What would have eaten what?" He realized that he would of course have awakened sound, whole, and intact, because the entire experience was in the realm of the unreal, an illusion.
