I wish to express my deep gratitude...

I wish to express my deep gratitude to God for the life of Mary Baker Eddy, whose selfless love brought to the world the understanding of God as our Father-Mother. This understanding has enabled me to rely on God for guidance through every event of my career, and I have been abundantly blessed. Turning wholeheartedly to God as my Father-Mother has taken away a false sense of responsibility for my family and enabled me to see that they too are cared for by their heavenly Father. Their needs have been met in wonderful ways.

During the years of the Second World War, events occurred which caused me much unhappiness. In addition, I found myself suffering from a heart condition and also from knee trouble, which was gradually becoming more painful. For a number of years both these conditions grew more and more difficult, and the fear of complete inactivity brought me into a slough of self-condemnation and self-pity.

Finally I called a practitioner whom I scarcely knew, but from whom I felt guided to ask help. The love and compassion expressed when she came to me that day will never be forgotten. New hope was born, and I began once more to rise in spiritual consciousness. A case of shingles was overcome without my missing a day at work, and the night hours of wakefulness were used to learn more of God. Then, one day after much earnest work by the practitioner, I suddenly saw that I had been causing my own inactivity by holding a wrong sense of love.
