BUSINESS IS TO BLESS

Business is generally regarded as a means of obtaining a return for endeavor, or an increment to capital. The purpose or function of business should be to bless.

There is no higher comprehension of business than that expressed by Christ Jesus, who, at the age of twelve years, asked his mother and Joseph, who had been seeking him (Luke 2:49), "Wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?" There and thereafter his earthly career continued to demonstrate his devotion to the Father's business, in which there is no dearth of right activity, opportunity, capability, or accomplishment. Since God is the only real employer, man, His likeness, is never unemployed.

Christian Science focuses light upon the subject of business, enabling those who are followers of this Science to increase the success of their endeavors by aligning them with divine direction. As this is done, one comes to discern that success unfolds in individual consciousness through spiritual enlightenment. In mortal belief, success is regarded as the accomplishment of one's hopes, plans, and endeavors, the realization of one's ambitions. But actually, success is inherent in every right idea. Seeking to know God's will and to fulfill His purpose is righteous activity, which ultmates in success. A positive faith in and conviction of the allness of God, good, and the spiritual comprehension of one's unity with the law of fulfillment, assure the success of righteous objectives. Divinely inspired activities do not result in failure and frustration.
