"WATCH DILIGENTLY"

As the writer was driving past a factory one day, she noticed this sign of caution for the employees: "The best safety measure ever invented is a careful man." It was comforting for her to realize that although we must be careful, there is an even higher rule to follow than that of carefulness in order to be completely sure of safety from danger of any kind. How assuring it is for those who would gain dominion over fear and danger to know that true safety is attained through a correct view of God and of man as His image and likeness.

One definition of "careful" is "giving close or watchful attention." Did not our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, preach and demonstrate the necessity for attentive watchfulness? He warned his disciples (Mark 13:37), "What I say unto you I say unto all, Watch."

Through his perception of the spiritual nature of God and of man, made in His image and likeness, Jesus was able to prove God's ever-presence at all times. He resisted the temptation to believe in the existence of matter or of man as subject to matter's limitations or to any danger.
