A PLACE OF SAFETY
The desire for safety is inherent in everyone. Mankind is always searching for security from perilous conditions and circumstances common to human life. A sense of insecurity has stemmed from false education about God and man's relation to Him.
Most human beings accept as true the erroneous teaching that God is in some remote place, entirely separated from man; that He permits the hardships and disasters that beset humanity. Men also believe that man is material and that existence and safety are entirely dependent upon matter in one form or another.
Such incorrect beliefs have intimidated the human race. They have influenced mankind to seek security and well-being in matter instead of turning to the ever-present, omnipotent Spirit, wherein man's welfare and surety lie. But owing to the unreliable and impermanent nature of matter, safety based on materiality has been at best only temporary. Genuine safety is found in the spiritual order, in which the only creator is God, Spirit, whose creation is spiritual.
