TRUTH FREES FROM SUPPOSITION
The phrase, "I suppose so," is often voiced. Yet what is commonly thought to be a harmless expression actually hints at the source of all of mankind's afflictions.
Christian Science finds all error to be supposititious. Error is nothing but suppositional evil at work in the name of good. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy states (p. 480): "Evil is a false belief. God is not its author. The supposititious parent of evil is a lie." Science exposes evil as powerless because it is a lie—a suppositional mode of thought and not the medium of divine presence and power.
In Christian Science, God is all-power. There is nothing besides Him. God, good, is forever supreme, all-presence, and the only substance. God's creation is entirely spiritual, for God is without finiteness either of form or of expression. Matter is not of God's creating; hence there is no material substance. Matter is a lie concerning that which is spiritual. This lie is the supposition that God is not All and that life and intelligence are existent in matter.
