GOD'S EVER-PRESENT KINGDOM

When contemplating a kingdom, one immediately thinks of a king. God is revealed in Christian Science as the one immortal King of kings. He is All-in-all; He fills all space, and His rule is absolute and final. David said (I Chron. 29:11), "Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all." The realization of God's ever-present sovereignty and of man as God's reflection reveals our true dominion as spiritual subjects of our God, our King.

In the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, gives us the following definitions (p. 590): "Kingdom of Heaven. The reign of harmony in divine Science; the realm of unerring, eternal, and omnipotent Mind; the atmosphere of Spirit, where Soul is supreme"; and (p. 587), "Heaven. Harmony; the reign of Spirit; government by divine Principle; spirituality; bliss; the atmosphere of Soul."

God, Spirit, must have a wholly spiritual kingdom, which is not remote or afar off, for our Master, Christ Jesus, tells us that the kingdom of God is within us. And Christian Science teaches that it is within our grasp and comprehension here and now.
