As a little girl I truly loved God. At about the age of ten, however, I experienced a great disappointment when my earnest prayer for the healing of an obstinate and troublesome physical condition was not answered. Little by little I lost faith in God.

When I was about thirty there was awakened in me a strong desire to draw near to Him, to investigate the "why's" of life, and to rebuild my character. This desire, together with a sincere effort always to love my neighbor more, brought me after several years to Christian Science. When I held in my hands the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I realized that I had found what I had been searching for.

From that moment my life was transformed. Pessimism and fear of the future were replaced with the joyful expectation of good and the inner serenity that Christian Scientists know so well. A feeling of being generally incapable gave way to the joy of being useful to others. Better health, improved social relations, and more desirable financial conditions followed. Unpleasant traits of character were replaced with better qualities, including a greater understanding of and greater patience with my fellow men.
