When I first became interested...

When I first became interested in Christian Science I was suffering from eye trouble. I had got dust in my eye, and it became infected. This left me with such a fear of dust that every time any blew into my eye I went to the oculist to have it removed. I called on him three times a week.

Then I started attending church services held by an informal group of Christian Scientists, and I borrowed "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Later I began to study the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. My trips to the oculist were fewer, and one night I did not go to have the dust removed. The discomfort was extremely annoying, but after I had read the lesson, my eye watered profusely, and the dust was washed out.

This experience ended my need for further trips to the oculist and greatly increased my interest in Science. I joined The Mother Church, and later I became First Reader of the informal group of Christian Scientists.
