AN UNDERSTANDING OF GOD'S ALLNESS
"Allness is the measure of the infinite, and nothing less can express God." So writes Mary Baker Eddy on page 336 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Mrs. Eddy had always known that God is a God of love, not of hate. Therefore, when in later years she fell on the ice and was thought to be fatally injured, she reached out to God, divine Love. As she lay in bed, pondering Jesus' healing of the palsied man as recorded in the ninth chapter of Matthew, her consciousness was so illumined with a sense of God's allness that she immediately arose, dressed, and walked into the living room, completely healed. In order to understand the Principle and rule of what had healed her, she withdrew from society for three years to study the Scriptures more fully. After she had completed Science and Health, in which she sets forth her revelation of Truth, she studied this textbook daily. Therefore it is expedient that all who profess to be earnest students of Christian Science also study the textbook daily.
The absolute truth concerning man is that he is the image or reflection of Mind, God; therefore, he can reflect only infinite intelligence. This intelligence must be expressed in our human experience. As we study Science and Health, many false concepts about intelligence, Mind, understanding, and so on, will be replaced by the spiritual truths of God and man. Then we shall recognize ourselves as God knows us—representatives of Mind—and we shall reflect His knowing. And that knowing is never little. God is the only Mind there is, and He fills all space; therefore, man, His image, reflects infinite Mind infinitely, not partially.
Christian Science is the full revelation of man's oneness, or unity, with God. As we understand what this truth means, we see how ridiculous are the claims of mortal mind in regard to man. We express God in our daily experience when we manifest such qualities as honesty, intelligence, compassion, justice, joy, understanding, activity, and so on. Charity, generosity, honesty, should replace all the fearful thoughts of lack and limitation that try to dominate our consciousness.
