THE BEGINNING IS NOW

God has no point of commencement. He is eternal and includes His infinite creation. "The infinite has no beginning," declares Mary Baker Eddy in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 502). The spiritual universe, including man, never began and will never end, and it is from this premise that one must reason in order to present flawless logic in his conclusions. In explanation of her foregoing statement, Mrs. Eddy points out, "This word beginning is employed to signify the only,—that is, the eternal verity and unity of God and man, including the universe."

The material universe presents a picture of life appearing, growing, maturing, decaying, and dying. But this is a view of the mortal counterfeit existence only. Mortal man is the objective state of material belief which must eventually be exchanged for the immortal idea of Soul. It is this true idea of Soul, the real man and universe, which has neither inception nor termination. The Preacher said (Eccl. 3:15), "That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been."

Christian Science makes it clear that in reality there is only now. There is no point in real being which was antedated by a vacuum, a void, darkness, oblivion, or nothingness. Being in all its glory is ever existent in Mind. When God is reported as having created the heaven and the earth, it was, in truth, already in Being, in God. What the inspired recorder referred to as a beginning was actually the unfoldment of that which is eternally in existence. Creation is the ever-appearing of God's ideas in consciousness. It is not temporal.
