"JOY COMETH IN THE MORNING"

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Grant was the only Christian Scientist in his school, and on the first day of each year he took a white card to his teacher. This card asked that he be excused from physical examinations and that if he seemed to be ill, he be sent home, because he relied on Christian Science for healing. On the back of the card the laws of the nation and of his state which guaranteed his religious freedom were written out. He was very grateful that his teachers had always lovingly acknowledged these laws.

Grant also attended the Christian Science Sunday School, where he learned many things from the Bible and from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy which helped him work out any problems that came to him. He loved to sing the hymns, and he had his own copy of the Christian Science Hymnal so that he could sing at home too.

One afternoon Grant felt quite ill after he and his classmates at school came in from recess. The teacher asked him if he wished to go home, and he said that he did.
